Beanie Baby Reading Strategies

Beanie Baby Dog TagsOne of my all time favorite ways to teach reading strategies is with Beanie Babies.  Even my K students seem to understand the strategies when presented along with a beanie baby.  Last summer, my web friend Melissa Ortuno, had created strategy posters to go along with her beanies.  Since my students like to "handle" the beanies, I decided to turn these posters into "dog tags".

I hole punch a hole in the tag, tie it with ribbon, and tie it around the neck of the beanie baby.  This way when the students are "using" that beanie, they have the reminder of the strategy that they are working on right in their hands.

Enjoy!
