Art Elements for Kindergarten
I know with the budget cuts all over the United States that fine arts programs are suffering. Although my specialization is in Mathematics, many of my college electives were in art. To me, art and music are just different ways to express mathematics. One of the units that we do for GT in Kindergarten is called "Do Your Part for Art". In this unit we study artists and then learn to look at the elements of art found in their work. We will then create our own versions using the styles of the artists that we have learned about. I created small vocabulary strips for the 5 art elements that we cover in Kindergarten. I created these to fit the small pocket charts that are available at Target in the Dollar Spot during the back to school sales. These will help the students use the correct vocabulary when discussing the work of the artists as well as their own work.
Enjoy!

Beautiful! One of my first lesson in kindergarten is all about lines. I love to use this a way to understand important vocabulary later needed when forming numbers and letters. Thanks for sharing the vocabulary cards.
