Capacity is a concept that many students struggle with. One game that I have used with my students that is very easy to change is the game Capacity Spin and Compare.
You simply take a container from a collection of containers and place it on the Our Container Mat. (This container will stay there for the entire game.) The student then spins the spinner to find out if he/she has to find a container that holds more or that holds less. He then goes to the collection and chooses a container that fits his task. He/She then uses the rice to measure and compare to see if he/she is correct. Play continues until all of the containers are used.
The next round simply place a different container on the Our Container mat.
